Caracremada is a circular trek through the wild, depopulated Pre-Pyrenees of the Berguedà and Solsonès. Named after the Maquis fighter Ramon Vila Capdevila — alias "Caracremada" — it follows the hidden trails the anti-Franco resistance once used, linking the great limestone massifs of Pedraforca, the Serra del Verd, Port del Comte and the cliff-walled fortress of Busa. Five walking days of silence, big climbs and history, almost entirely off the tourist map.

Up to Rasos de Peguera
Make your way to Berga, gateway to the Berguedà, and transfer up to Rasos de Peguera — sleeping right at the trailhead so you can step straight onto the trail in the morning.
Mining trails to Gósol
Set off straight from Rasos de Peguera into Maquis country: past the abandoned mining hamlet of Peguera and below the limestone walls of Roc d'en Ferrús, descending through L'Espà to Gósol at the foot of Pedraforca.
Extra day at Gósol
Gósol sits right beneath Pedraforca, Catalonia's most iconic mountain. Add a day here (+128 € per person) and choose your adventure on the day — the summit or the 360° loop.
Either climb the twin-peaked massif to the Pollegó Superior (2,506 m) via the exposed Enforcadura scramble, or circle it on the classic non-technical 'volta a la Pedraforca' 360° loop past the Lluís Estasen refuge. 128 € per person.
The high alpine
A true high-mountain day: leave Pedraforca behind and climb the Serra del Verd through the Torrent Fosc to the alpine meadows, crossing the Coll de Port to the lonely Refugi de l'Arp.
Roof of the trek
Summit the Pedró dels Quatre Batlles (2,386 m), high point of the Port del Comte massif, passing the Bòfia sinkhole — once an ice well — before a long 1,600 m descent through pine forest to medieval Sant Llorenç de Morunys.
The resistance fortress
Cross the turquoise Llosa del Cavall reservoir, then a steep assault on the Serra de Busa — a walled natural fortress the guerrillas used as a training ground and hideout.
Closing the loop
From deep in the valley, pass the Baumas — cave dwellings built under rock overhangs — then a relentless climb up the Canals de Catllarí back to Rasos de Peguera to close the loop, before transferring down to Berga for a comfortable final night in town.

After breakfast in Berga, the trek ends — transfer onward or home.

Coaches run from Barcelona (Alsa, from the Estació del Nord) to Berga in about 1 h 45 — Berga is the town the trek is based in. From there it's a short hop up to the Rasos de Peguera trailhead (see the transfer option).
From Barcelona it's about 1 h 30 up the C-16 to Berga; from Girona around 1 h 45. Park at your Berga hotel for the week.
The trailhead at Rasos de Peguera sits 25 minutes up a mountain road above Berga and isn't on a public line — we can book a private transfer to the start, and back from the finish, on request.

How booking works.
We authorize 20% on your card to lock your spot. Nothing is charged yet — the hold is only captured once your huts are confirmed.
A guide then calls every refuge and inn by hand to lock your nights, usually within 48h. Only when they're all confirmed do we capture the deposit. If one's full we propose alternative dates — and if nothing fits, the hold is released in full, never charged.
The remaining balance falls due 60 days before you set off. We send a reminder.

Once your huts are confirmed the deposit secures real logistics and is non-refundable — but in force majeure we rebook you onto alternate dates at minimal cost.
