Four disciplines, every operation.

Engineered plans
Every itinerary is designed months out: acclimatisation profiles, hut and permit reservations, transfer chains, weather-window analysis. Nothing is left to 'we'll see on the day'.

Redundancy
Plans B, C, D and E are written before you leave home — alternative stages, evacuation contingencies, backup transfers. When the mountain changes the plan, we already have the next one.

Honest data
Go / no-go decisions are made on forecasts, condition reports and your own daily numbers — not on sunk cost or summit fever. We tell you the truth even when it's not what you booked.

A human on the line
Whatever the tier, a real person who knows your route answers the phone — daily check-ins on self-guided treks, an operations desk behind every guided rope team.

Alberto Viseras
Altura was founded by Alberto Viseras, PhD — a former systems engineer at the German Aerospace Center (DLR), Audi, BMW and Siemens who took the discipline of aerospace engineering into the mountains.
Forty-eight countries, a summit of Annapurna IV (7,525 m), and years of running operations in the Pyrenees, the Atlas and the Himalaya shaped one conviction: most of what goes wrong in the mountains was decided weeks earlier, at a desk. So that is where we win it.
