This route connects the most iconic landscapes of the range — the UNESCO World Heritage Cirque de Gavarnie and the crystalline high-altitude lakes of Bachimaña — balancing demanding mountain passes with high-quality hospitality, and culminating in a luxury spa to celebrate the traverse.

Arrival in Gavarnie
Arrival in the mountain village of Gavarnie and check-in at the charming Chalet La Grange de Holle, in a quiet spot overlooking the village.
The great cirque
A warm-up day exploring the Cirque de Gavarnie: walk to the foot of the massive limestone walls and the highest waterfall in mainland Europe, then return to Gavarnie.
The frontier pass
Ascend through high meadows to the Puerto de Bujaruelo (Port de Boucharo), cross the border into Spain and descend into the wild Ara Valley to the historic Refugio de Bujaruelo.
The granite ascent
Follow the river trails and climb towards the high-altitude lake basin, through dramatic glacial landscapes to the modern Refugio de Bachimaña, perched beside the lake.
High lakes & spa
An optional climb to the Muga Nord (2,729 m), then a descent past the high lakes to the Balneario de Panticosa for a well-earned thermal spa session.
Departure
Final breakfast in the Pyrenees and transfer to Zaragoza for your onward travel. End of operations.

The meals included each night are marked above. Where a meal isn't ticked, we point you to the best shop, bakery or refuge kitchen to stock up.
Gavarnie (start) is on the French side; Panticosa (finish) on the Spanish side, so the route is a point-to-point traverse.
A one-way trek — a hire car is awkward as start and finish are far apart by road.
Private transfers to the start (Gavarnie) and from the finish (Balneario de Panticosa) can be arranged on request.

How booking works.
We authorize 20% on your card to lock your spot. Nothing is charged yet — the hold is only captured once your huts are confirmed.
A guide then calls every refuge and inn by hand to lock your nights, usually within 48h. Only when they're all confirmed do we capture the deposit. If one's full we propose alternative dates — and if nothing fits, the hold is released in full, never charged.
The remaining balance falls due 60 days before you set off. We send a reminder.
Card at checkout, or pay by bank transfer for a 5% discount on the total.
Once your huts are confirmed the deposit secures real logistics and is non-refundable — but in force majeure we rebook you onto alternate dates at minimal cost.
