The Royal Path is an immersive historical journey through the heart of the Val d'Aran, following the ancient Roman road that once connected the Empire. You will walk through stone villages, discover Romanesque secrets and follow the legends of giants and ancient kings. The terrain is accessible and educational — an outdoor museum for children and adults alike.

Arrival in Vielha
Arrival in the capital of the valley (about a 4 h drive from Barcelona), family check-in and delivery of the route maps and roadbook.
Vielha to Salardú
Follow the Garonne upstream to the Romanesque church of Sant Andreu and its ancient wooden Christ, finishing with a visit to the PyrenMuseu.
Into the Wild West
Cross the Pla de Beret, looking out for herds of semi-wild horses, to the isolated Montgarri Sanctuary — a perfect spot to relax by the river and explore the old village ruins.
Cheese & thermal pools
A scenic descent through Bagergue, one of Spain's most beautiful villages, with a stop at the local cheese factory before the outdoor thermal pools of Arties.
Land of legends
Pass through Garòs to where the giant Mandrònius was said to be buried after his battles with the Romans, with fantastic views of the valley floor.
The hero's leg
A short, gentle downhill along the ancient stone road back to the capital, through the forest of Vilac and its 12th-century church with the oldest bell in the Pyrenees.
Departure
Farewell breakfast and departure to Barcelona. End of operations.

Vielha is reachable by Alsa coach from Barcelona, though a private transfer is easier for families with luggage.
From Barcelona it is about 4 h via the C-28 / Vielha tunnel; from Toulouse about 2 h 30.
Private transfers from Barcelona or Toulouse airports to Vielha can be arranged on request.

How booking works.
We authorize 20% on your card to lock your spot. Nothing is charged yet — the hold is only captured once your huts are confirmed.
A guide then calls every refuge and inn by hand to lock your nights, usually within 48h. Only when they're all confirmed do we capture the deposit. If one's full we propose alternative dates — and if nothing fits, the hold is released in full, never charged.
The remaining balance falls due 60 days before you set off. We send a reminder.
Card at checkout, or pay by bank transfer for a 5% discount on the total.
Once your huts are confirmed the deposit secures real logistics and is non-refundable — but in force majeure we rebook you onto alternate dates at minimal cost.
