Terms & Conditions

1. Legal Framework and Jurisdiction

This contract is governed by the laws of Spain. Any disputes arising from these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Oviedo, Asturias. Altura Expeditions complies with the Spanish General Law for the Defense of Consumers and Users.

2. Nature of Self-Guided Trips

You acknowledge that Altura Expeditions provides logistical coordination (such as route planning, luggage transport, and accommodation bookings) but does not provide an on-site guide.

  • You are responsible for your own navigation, pacing, and safety.

  • You must possess the necessary skills to read maps, use GPS devices, and handle trail conditions independently.

3. Payments and Booking

  • Deposit: A 20% non-refundable deposit is required to confirm the booking.

  • Final Payment: The balance must be paid 60 days before the start date.

  • Late Bookings: Reservations made within 60 days of the start date must be paid in full.

4. Cancellation Policy

Cancellations must be submitted in writing. As we pre-pay hotels and contractors, the following fees apply:

  • More than 60 days before start date: Loss of the 20% non-refundable deposit.

  • 60 days or less before start date: 100% of the total trip cost is forfeited.

Note: We strongly recommend travel insurance that covers cancellation due to illness or unforeseen events.

5. Third-Party Contractors (Hotels, Transport, etc.)

Altura Expeditions acts as an intermediary between you and independent suppliers (hotels, taxi services, luggage transfers).

  • These parties are independent contractors and are not employees of Altura Expeditions.

  • We are not liable for the acts, errors, omissions, or negligence of these suppliers, including delays, property damage, or injuries occurring on their premises or in their vehicles.

6. Equipment and Personal Responsibility

  • No Gear Provided: Altura Expeditions does not provide trekking gear, clothing, or technical equipment. You are responsible for bringing appropriate gear.

  • Equipment Failure: We are not responsible for any injury or itinerary disruption caused by the failure of your personal equipment.

7. Physical Fitness and Medical Risk

By booking, you certify that you are in good physical health and have the stamina required for the itinerary selected.

  • Self-Evacuation: In the event of injury or fatigue, you are responsible for any costs associated with leaving the trail early (e.g., private taxis or extra hotel nights).

  • Medical Insurance: It is a condition of booking that you have valid travel insurance covering medical expenses and mountain rescue/repatriation in Spain.

8. Itinerary Accuracy and Changes

While we provide detailed route notes and GPS tracks, trail conditions in the Pyrenees can change due to weather, landslides, or local authority closures.

  • Altura Expeditions is not responsible for route deviations caused by environmental factors.

  • We reserve the right to change accommodations to a similar standard if the original choice is unavailable.

9. Force Majeure

Altura Expeditions is not liable for failure to perform its obligations if such failure is as a result of Acts of God (including fire, flood, earthquake, storm, or other natural disaster), government sanctions, or strikes.
