One phone call, one full hut
This one’s about the Pyrenees. About one hut, one village, and why we’re already booking 2027.
The other day I was on the phone with one of the huts on the route.
A big group. One of ours.
I booked it.
And by the time I hung up, the hut was full. For 2027.
I’m telling you this because it sounds like a small detail and it isn’t.
In that village there’s one hut. One.
There’s no second one next door. No “well, we’ll just sleep in the one down the hill.” No plan B three kilometres away.
It’s that hut, or it’s a tent at 2,200 metres with the wind coming through the seams.
Right.
So now you tell me if it makes sense to wait.
”2027 is ages away” — I know
Because I know what you’re thinking. That 2027 is ages away. That booking now, in August 2026, for next summer, is the mark of an anxious person.
And I get it. Planning this far ahead grinds on me too.
But Carros de Foc doesn’t work that way. Neither do some sections of the GR11.
These are some of the most sought-after treks in the Pyrenees. Few beds, a lot of people who want them. The math is the math.
Whoever books in January sleeps in the hut
Whoever books in May sleeps on the ground. Or doesn’t go.
It’s not that we want to rush you. It’s that the mountain, on this one, doesn’t negotiate. The beds are the beds, and they go in order of arrival, not in order of merit.
So yes, we’ve started building 2027. Carros de Foc. Sections of the GR11. And the beds are going while you read this.
Booking now doesn’t lock you into anything
You can cancel or change your dates for free until January 31st. Meaning: you secure your spot today, and you’ve got five months to decide calmly whether it actually fits or not.
The only thing you can’t do is get back a bed someone else already took.
