Six Mountains, One Weekend: Finding Your Next Step

Six Altura groups on six mountains in one weekend — Pyrenees, Toubkal, Kilimanjaro, Everest Base Camp, Mera Peak, Chulu West — and how to find your next one.

Six groups, boots on the ground, same weekend

This weekend, while you were doing whatever you were doing, we had people on six different mountains.

Not six trips on a website. Six groups. Boots on the ground. Same weekend.

Here they are, easiest to hardest:

The Pyrenees. Hut to hut. Home turf.

Toubkal, Morocco. 4,167m. Where you find out how your body handles altitude.

Kilimanjaro, Tanzania. 5,895m. Big altitude, no technique required.

Everest Base Camp, Nepal. 5,364m. Two weeks in the Khumbu, sleeping higher than the summit of Mont Blanc.

Mera Peak, Nepal. 6,476m. Crampons, glacier, your first six-thousander.

Chulu West, Nepal. 6,419m. Steeper. More technical. The one that asks the most questions.

The numbers don’t go up in a straight line

If you’re checking the numbers, yes. They don’t go up in a straight line.

That’s on purpose. Altitude is one variable. There are others. Days in a row. Terrain. Technique. How long you live above 5,000m.

Right.

Why am I telling you this?

Because we talk about the Pyrenees a lot. Maybe too much. It’s where we come from. It’s where Altura was born.

So a lot of you think that’s all we do.

It isn’t.

And if you’ve already walked the Pyrenees, with us or on your own, you’re not at the end of something. You’re on the first line of that list.

Maybe you finished a week in the huts and thought: what now?

The answer is on that list. Not the whole list. The next line down.

One step. Then another.

That’s how it works. One step. Then another. Nobody goes from the Pyrenees to Chulu West in one jump. And if you asked us to do it that way, we’d say no.

If you’ve already been further down that list with us, you know exactly what I mean.

If you want to see what sits on each line of that list, take a look at our expeditions here:

Find yours. Then hit reply and tell me which one.

Un abrazo, Alberto

P.S. The Pyrenees are where we come from. They don’t have to be where you stop.

Ready when you are

You move. We engineer the rest.

Tell us the objective. We'll come back the same day with a plan, the logistics, and a human who stays on the line the whole way.
